Tokushima Vortis sealed their second victory of the season, bringing their losing streak to an end. At 7 points, they remain only 3 points away from sixth place in Japan League 2; a position currently occupied by Okayama.
The match began with a close ball from the visiting team’s forward Silvio Junior, which gave the hosts a scare in the first few minutes of the game. Tokushima’s first goal came on 22 minutes into the game after winning back possession from Albirex. Uchida’s cross from the left wing found Kishimoto, who was able to score the first and only goal of the game with a great shot with his right leg. After the first goal, Tokushima Vortis were able to create more attacking opportunities. Nomura was close to scoring the second with a shot from outside the penalty area.
In the second half of the game, Albirex searched for an equaliser, through plays into dangerous areas on numerous occasions. However, Tokushima’s solid defensive line was able to maintain a clean sheet without further problems.
The next match will be played on Wednesday, against Renofa Yamaguchi, a team that is currently at the bottom of the Japan League 2 table.
