There is one obvious thing for the Tokushima Vortis fans and that is regardless of the final result, only a few teams are capable of putting in a display equivalent to that of the blue team. And we saw more of that this season, where games are being decided in the last minutes. That is what happened against Tochigi, thanks to Iwao’s goal that came as a result of great play and was celebrated in style.

Earlier on, the game was vibrant. Öruga scored Tochigi’s first goal, from a rebound within the penalty box. In the 25th minute however, Uchida was penalized after a foul committed from the left wing. Kiyotake did not miss the penalty and scored the equaliser.

In the second half, the two teams increased their efforts offensively with goals coming in in the last quarter of the game. Buijs scored to make it 2-1 for Tokushima Vortis with a great shot from outside the penalty area, making it his third goal this season as a centre-back for the Blues. All of them were spectacular goals. However, Vortis’ advantage lasted only for five minutes. Nishiya was able to level the game through a volley.

However, Iwao’s goal in the 92nd minute of the game was enough to lift Tokushima to 16 points and place them tenth in the table. The next match will be played against Kashiwa Reysol, who currently stand at 19 points and are a direct rival for the play off positions. It will be a key game to end the race for promotion.
