Tokushima Vortis marked their biggest victory of the season against Gifu. Seven goals were scored, in a display of goalscoring versatility from Ricardo Rodriguez’s team.
That explains why Buijs, a central defender, opened the scoring through a spectacular free-kick or why Oshitani, who came on in the second half, scored the seventh goal in a great shot from outside the penalty area.
In the meantime, Tokushima controlled the match, with no surprises against a rival fighting relegation. Vortis scored two penalties- Iwao (38′) and Kawata (40′)- and three more goals that came from Sugimoto (30′), Kawata (63′) and Nomura (65′) through collective plays.
That was a new victory for Tokushima Vortis, 19 in total, 9 of which were in the last 12 matches. That puts them in fifth place with 67 points. There are only three games left until the end of the season, and the next match is a decisive one that will be played at home against Yokohama, who are second in the table with 70 points; an opportunity for Vortis to enter the positions of direct promotion to Japan League 1.
