Tokushima Vortis’ future will be decided during their last two coming games following their defeat at home against Yokohama. Direct promotion is now impossible for the Blues and therefore they are now focused on ending the season in the top six to try to get promoted to Japan League 1 through the play-offs.

Ricardo Rodríguez opted for a 3-4-3 formation, in attempt to reach the rival’s goal. The first approach occurred in the 13th minute, through a double occasion for Sugimoto and Nomura that did not however end up in a goal. A better opportunity for the Blues came along in the 20th minute, in a shot from Watai that came off very close to Yokohama’s goal.

The visitors did not impose any danger until the 62nd minute of the match. Nakamura, a star in Japanese football, was in charge of taking the free kicks. This ended in goal for Yokohama, but was canceled because it was ruled offside. The match reached the final phase, awaiting the decisive goal. Buijs was close to scoring that goal for Tokushima, but Yokohama found the prize in the 76th minute, through a goal from Takeda following a counterattack.

The defeat leaves Tokushima in sixth place with 67 points, two points above Ventforet, Kyoto Sanga as well as Okayama. The next match will be played away from home against Tokyo Verdy.
