TOKYO VERDY 1-2 TOKUSHIMA VORTIS //

Tokushima Vortis are very close to sealing their classification to the play-offs to Japan League 1 after their victory against Tokyo Verdy. Ricardo Rodríguez’s team are in need of only one point from their final game to achieve this goal, since they are ahead in goal difference of both Kyoto Sanga (7º), and Ventforet (6º), who are level on the number of points (68).

Despite the pressure, Tokushima Vortis gave it all to go for the victory. The first occasion came in the 30th minute, in a quick exit from the penalty area that ended with a shot over Tokyo Verdy’s goal. It was a headstart for what was bound to happen shortly before the break, with Sugimoto’s goal from outside the penalty area. However, there were two clear scoring opportunities for Tokyo Verdy before halftime, one of them with a spectacular intervention from Kajikawa.

Upon starting the second half, Tokushima were able to score the second goal of the match in a great collective play with a lovely finish from Kawata. Despite the advantage, the hosts were able to narrow the score after a goal from Koike through a corner kick.

At the end however, Tokushima were able to seal the three points and will face Renofa Yamaguchi in their last game of the season.
