Whatever ends up happening, and regardless of the final position Tokushima holds at the end of the competition, the Blues’ fans will always remember the 2020 season. Every match is as unpredictable and as exciting. Tokushima won again with a goal in the final minutes, certifying a new away victory that also raises them again to the top of the Japan League 2 table with 59 points, five ahead of third place.
This time it was even more difficult, Tokushima came back from two goals down against Kusatsu, scored in the 37th and 39th minutes of the game. With 2-0 down, Ricardo Rodríguez moved the team at halftime, bringing in fresh players –Sugimori and Fujita- to change the dynamic of the game.
Tokushima’s reaction was swift, with the 2-1 in the 49th minute after a great play on the right wing finished by Sugimori. In the 56th minute, Diego tied the game with a great header after another cross into the box from the right wing. But the draw was not enough for Tokushima, who sought victory in the last half hour of the match. And the winning goal came in the 92nd minute, in a play initiated from their area.
Diego recovered the ball to drive alone and with power to the opposite end of the field. In the last few meters, Kazuki filtered a pass into the box that Kawata finished in goal with a spectacular volley shot. That goal was worth much more than the three points sealed.
