Tokushima Vortis lost a good opportunity to close the gap with the top spots of the Japan League 2 after losing a home game against Shonan Bellmare, one of the teams called to fight at the end for the top. Ricardo Rodriguez bet again on the formula that worked well the previous match, playing with Watari and Yamakasi as forwards. However, this time adding more strikers did not translate into goals. Tokushima Vortis scored no goals in a match where they enjoyed the best chances of goal.
The local team had the first one with Carlinhos. The midfielder reached the heart of the box of Shonan Bellmare, but Akimoto, their goalkeeper, reacted very fast closing any option of scoring. It was a very close first half, barely without any goal chances. Both teams left for the break after controlling each other for the initial 45 minutes.
However, the visiting team would take the lead in the scoreboard in the 50th minute of the game with a goal by Sugioka with a crossed shot inside the box. Hasegawa, local goalkeeper, could not do anything to stop the powerful kick by the left wing of Shonan Bellmare. Despite the blow, Tokushima Vortis reacted well with clear chances of goal. Yamakasi had the equalizer in his boots, but his volley shot was stopped spectacularly by Akimoto. Shonan Bellmare’s goalkeeper turned into a nightmare for Ricardo Rodríguez’s men. Shortly after, Akimoto again saved the goal of Watari in a shot from outside the box. To make matters worse, luck was not on the local side either. Shimaya, who entered the pitch in the second half, placed a precise crossing to the box that was finished again by Watari. This time it was the post that avoided the tie. Impossible to add when so many conditioning factors come together.
The loss leaves Tokushima Vortis in the tenth position of the table with 27 points. 34 points have Shanon Bellmare and Avispa Fukuoka, leaders in the standings. The next matchday Tokushima Vortis plays again a home game against Roasso Kumamoto.
