Tokushima Vortis conquered a historic win against Montedio Yamagata in a spectacular match by the men of Ricardo Rodriguez, who have definitively solved their problems on goal. In the last two matches the balance is nine goals scored by only one conceded.
The first goal came only after eleven minutes into the match. Iwao, after a penalty over Yamasaki, opened the score for the visiting team in a shot to the goalkeeper’s right side. The 0-2 came in the 23rd minute, in a classic play of Tokushima Vortis, always with a lot of presence in the wings. The crossing from the right was turned into a perfect assist from Watari to Yamasaki, who did not miss in his header. The numbers of Yamasaki start to be particularly important in recent matches, where he has scored five goals in a perfect pair with Watari. Only a minute later, Yamasaki made his second goal of match, again with Watari as an assistant. Tokushima Vortis was by then a roller against Montedio Yamagata, a team with no capacity of response from the 0-1. After Yamasaki’s double it was the turn for Watari. He scored his first goal in the 33rd minute. Sugimoto recovered the ball in midfield and spotted the tremendous gap in the local defence to filter a break-through assist to Watari, who defined perfectly with his right leg. The first half closed with 0-4 for Tokushima Vortis, in a show of football and goals.
In the second half, Tokushima Vortis also solved another of the problems so far: the lack of accuracy in set-pieces. The one in charge of bringing this to an end was Watari, with a header from a corner kick; it was minute 54. The goal was particularly celebrated by Ricardo Rodríguez, who saw the strategy on the board finally working. Like it happened in the first half, after only one minute of Watari’s goal came the 0-6 for the visiting team after a combination from all the offensive players of the blue squad. First Shimaya, letting the ball go through with intelligence, and then Sugimoto and Yamasaki, creating a wall-pass in the edge of the box that Sugimoto defined perfectly. There was no more game from then on. The local team could only score with five minutes to go from a penalty kick by Senuma.
This win leaves Tokushima Vortis with very good vibrations in their football and with 33 points in the standings, only two behind the third, Tokyo Verdy. Next match Tokushima Vortis plays a home game against Ehime, club that now has 31 points. A key match to come close to the leaders of Japan League 2, Avispa Fukuoka and Shonan Bellmare, both tied to 40 points.
