Tokushima Vortis added their eighth draw of the season after failing to close the game against Yokohama FC, a direct rival for the promotion playoff to the Japan League 2. Tokushima Vortis’ effort throughout the match finally did not translate into three points due to the Yokohama goal in the 95th minute of the match.
Ricardo Rodriguez returned to bet on Shimaya, Watari and Yamasaki in the offensive zone, after the latter missed the last match. Yet the protagonist of the first occasion was Shimaya, with a spectacular shot from outside the area that went out very close to the goal of Yokohama. The visiting team responded with forceful Ibba, forward of Yokohama and author of the two goals of his team. He was ahead of Tokushima Vortis’ defense after a crossing into the box of Nomura, Yokohama’s left-wing, who had previously saved the mark of Tokushima Vortis player Pil. Tokushima Vortis managed to tie in the 40th minute in a play that involved the three players from the attack zone. Also Iwao, whose shot from outside the box was deflected to goal by Yamasaki.
Tokushima Vortis started the second half like a hurricane, breathed with new spirit. It only took a minute to make the 2-1. It arrived after a great play by the men of Ricardo Rodríguez, with all the signs of identity that the Spanish coach wants for his team. Great combination between Watari and Shimaya and Mawatari’s right-wing entry, who, assisted by Shimaya, dipped the score in favor of Tokushima Vortis resolving perfectly against Yokohama’s goalkeeper. The 2-1 forced Yokohoma to bet on a much more offensive version, creating serious problems to Tokushima Vortis’ defence. Tsuda, who had entered in the second half, could have made the equaliser with his shot against Hasegawa. It was a warning of what was going to happen in the last minute of the game. The tie came in a throw-in for Nakazato. The midfielder put the ball in the centre of the box, where a series of deflections finished in the definitive 2-2.
The tie makes Tokushima Vortis fall to fourth position with 44 points. The positive aspect is that maintains the distance of two points with Yokohama, sixth and last place that gives access to play off, and JEF United, in seventh place. On top, Shonan Bellmare remains leader one more day with 56 points. The next match arrives soon, on Wednesday, in the match against Kanazawa, team of the low part of the table.
