Matchday 29: Tokushima Vortis 5 - Renofa Yamaguchi 0

Tokushima Vortis reaches 50 points in the Japan League 2 after having a real feast of goals against Renofa Yamaguchi in an almost perfect week for the interests of Ricardo Rodriguez’s team: seven points out of nine with nine goals scored in the last two victories. Points that help Tokushima Vortis look back into the second spot of the table, which gives direct access to the Japan League 1, and that is now occupied by Avispa Fukuoka with 55 points. Meanwhile, they keep a gap of five points with Yokohama FC, seventh-placed and club that limits the play off zone.

The win against Renofa Yamaguchi had Junya Osaki as MVP. A footballer to whom, after a secondary role in the first part of the season, Ricardo Rodriguez has given all the confidence in recent weeks to be able to shine. Three of the five goals were his in a perfect match of the attack unit of Tokushima Vortis. Yamasaki and Watari also scored, with the latter adding already 16 goals that place him three goals behind Ibba (19), current top scorer of the Japan League 2. Preceding the arrival of the goals by Tokushima Vortis, Hasegawa, always important in every game of the blues, avoided the 0-1 with a spectacular stop after a corner-kick of the visitors. It was the only dangerous action of Renofa Yamaguchi in the entire game, always stopped by the combinative game-play of Tokushima Vortis. After overcoming the initial shock for Ricardo Rodríguez´s team, Watari was the one in charge of opening the scoreboard with a goal in minute 35 after a good shot with his right leg inside the box. A goal that came after a collective play by the offensive line of Tokushima Vortis. Before the break, in the 38th minute, Junya Osaki increased the difference to close the match taking advantage of the assist by Yamasaki from the left wing.

The second half saw the second goal of Junya Osaki, scoring nicely in a hand-to-hand against the goalkeeper of Renofa Yamaguchi, also the goal by Yamasaki, after a good control and shot inside the box, and the last one, already in the 90th minute of the match again by Junya Osaki, with a good shot from outside the box that entered the goal close to the right post of the visiting team’s goal.

Next matchday Ricardo Rodriguez´s team play again a home game, against Montedio Yamagata, a good chance to keep climbing towards the spots that give direct access to the Japan League 1.
