Tokushima Vortis, after several consecutive defeats, recovered the good vibrations in the match against Tochigi. A game that the men of Ricardo Rodríguez deserved to win, but a goal close to the end left the blues with just one point. A tie that keeps Tokushima Vortis in the 12th position of the Japan League 2, with the play-off spots only three points away. Roasso Kumamoto is the team that occupies the sixth place with thirteen points.
Ricardo Rodríguez bet again for his usual starting eleven in the beginning of this season. A vertical team with strong offensive spirit. However, the first chance of the game was for Togichi, in a set play that ended with a great save by Carvajal. The goal of Tokushima Vortis came half hour into the match, in an action that usually is a weakness: set pieces. Iwao executed a great pass to the heart of Togichi’s box. After several deflections, Izutsu shot on goal with his left foot putting Tokushima Vortis ahead in the scoreboard.
The 0-1 froze the game with alternatives for both teams, but without any more clear goal chances. This pattern broke apart in the last part of the match, where Togichi advanced lines in search of the draw. Carvajal stopped the 1-1 with another great action against Orugo, local forward. Tokushima Vortis had the option of closing the game in the 83rd minute, with a double action from Maekawa. In the first shot, inside the box, he found the goalkeeper’s response that however left a clear deflection to score, but the shot of Tokushima Vortis’ midfielder went out very close to the goal of Togichi. An untapped opportunity that would lead to the tie by means of a great free-kick by Nishiya in the 87th minute. Carvajal reacted well to the shot, but the kick was unstoppable.
Tokushima Vortis will try to return to the path of victories next matchday at Gifu’s stadium, team that currently occupies the 16th position in the standings. Meanwhile, at the top, the situation does not change and Fagiano Okayama continues to lead with 19 points.
