Spectacular match of David Barral in his home debut with the Tokushima Vortis shirt. The Spanish forward signed four goals in the victory of the Blues against Montedio Yamagata, a direct rival in the fight for the play-offs. A win to start a key week for the interests of Tokushima Vortis, that now has 41 points, just five behind the sixth place, dominated by Tokyo Verdy, and with one game less played. That match will be recovered next Wednesday against Fagiano Okayama. If Tokushima Vortis is able to win the next two games they could end this week in play-off spots. But that is to advance events.
For now, Ricardo Rodríguez’s men enjoy the hangover of one of the best games of the season. The Spanish coach bet on his compatriot for the attack. Barral is a striker with experience in some of the best leagues in the world, and the Japan League 2 is a new challenge for him. His first goal came half hour into the match, in an action prepared on the blackboard by Ricardo Rodríguez. Sisi stepped on the ball and David Barral appeared in the second line to put the ball in the net. The 2-0 came in the 37th minute, with David Barral as executor of a penalty kick. In only five minutes Tokushima Vortis had taken a good advantage after an even match for the first thirty minutes.
In the second half, Tokushima Vortis continued to dominate the game. David Barral could have made his third goal after a poor clearance of Montedio Yamagata’s goalkeeper, but was not successful in the shot. However, the victory of Tokushima Vortis was put into question in the 49th minute, with a goal for Montedio Yamagata after an error in defence. Ishii missed trying to play the ball from the back and Felipe Alves did not forgive the gift. Despite the blow, the players of Tokushima Vortis recomposed themselves with their best weapons. David Barral again had the opportunity to make his third goal, but, after kicking the ball over the goalkeeper, the defence of Montedio Yamagata cleared the ball under the crossbar. Yet Maekawa did score a goal in the 60th minute with a great shot inside the box. A goal that opened the definitive gap in the scoreboard. After searching again and again for his third goal, David Barral got the reward in the final stretch of the match with two more goals. In the 90th minute with a shot placed to the right of the goalkeeper after a great assist from Utaka and in the 93rd minute with a first-touch with his left leg. A perfect game for David Barral, who has already started to conquer the Japan League 2.
