Matchday 26: Fagiano Okayama 2 - Tokushima Vortis 1

Tokushima Vortis stopped their good stint of results after losing against Fagiano Okayama, a direct rival in the fight for the play-off, in a game postponed two weeks ago. The locals, with this victory, are placed with 44 points, while Tokushima Vortis, tenth in the Japan League 2, is left with 41, five points from the sixth place. Ricardo Rodríguez, following his policy of player rotations, introduced new players in the lineup with respect to the previous matchday. In attack, he did not move David Barral, who gave himself a feast of goals in the last game. However, the Spanish striker could not score this time against Fagiano Okayama.

The first half was spectacular, with a high level of play and much pace between both teams. The locals struck first shortly after kick-off with a goal from Saito after a good collective play. Tokushima Vortis did not change their game plan at all: to reach the goal through good football play. Thus came the tie by Iwao after half an hour, scoring with great quality inside the box. However, the joy did not last long for the Blues. Nakama, just ten minutes after the tie put Fagiano Okayama in the lead again with a header.

In the second half the intensity was maintained on both sides. Ricardo Rodríguez, faced with the disadvantage in the scoreboard, opted to join David Barral and Utaka in attack. An association from which the best chances were born for Tokushima Vortis to tie the game. The player of African origin as assistant and Barral as finisher. However, they could not score in two very clear occasions and the scoreboard did not move.

Next matchday awaits a home game against Oita Trinita, currently placed third in the Japan League 2 with 51 points. The victory seems decisive to give the definitive impulse to compete very closely for the promotion to the Japan League 1.
