New defeat for Tokushima Vortis in match that showed all the problems that have dragged the Blues in this final stretch of the season. The lack of determination in the two boxes has left the team without any play-off options.
JEF United opened the score in the 10th minute with a great header from Masushima in a corner-kick. Kajikawa, blocked by local players, could not react to stop the goal. The game, between two teams already without any objectives to achieve this season in Japan League 2, was dynamic from box to box, with goal chances for both teams. Kajikawa was very successful in stopping all chances of JEF United. On the other side, Utaka, Tokushima Vortis’ most dangerous player, collided against the local defence again and again.
Tokushima Vortis redoubled their efforts in the second half, with more offensive presence, always led by Utaka, who signed one of his best games with the blue shirt. He could level the match in two clear chances. In the first one with a long distant shot that was cleared by the defence of JEF United when the ball was about to enter the goal. Shortly after he tried with a breakthrough in the right side that could not find a striker close to the goal. Once again luck turned its back on Tokushima Vortis, who lost any hope in the 86th minute with Kojima’s goal.
There are two matchdays left to alleviate the dynamic that has accompanied Tokushima Vortis in this last month. Albirex Niigata will be the first opportunity to recover the path of victory.
