Second round of Toyota Cup quarter-finals, and we had to defend the 3-1 obtained in the first round against PTT Rayong. It was not an easy game and despite the defeat by 1-0 we went through to semi-finals.
We had the first chance of the match with a cross from the left side of Quero that Douglas headed close to the left post. PTT Rayong counterattacked with a clear opportunity but our goalkeeper Chayut made a good save and the subsequent deflection was saved twice by Choompol under the line, the latter after hitting the bar. The rest of the first half did not have many goal chances until the minute 44, when PTT Rayong scored their goal with a shot from outside the box that entered close to the left post. They were just a goal from knocking us out from the competition.
In the second half, they were close to eliminate us but Chayut avoided it with a great save after a free-kick from the edge of our box. That would be their last opportunity, while we had 2 good chances, the first one with a volley by Assadin from the edge of the box that went out close to the right post; and later with a low pass from the right side from Choompol to the far post that was cleared by a rival defender in the last moment when Douglas was going to kick the ball inside the net. The end of the match was troubled, because a tough foul forced Chupiton to leave the pitch on a stretcher, and was taken to the hospital due to the strong hit he received in the neck.
After this game, with a total 3-2 for us in the round, we are qualified for semi-finals of Toyota Cup. The rest of the teams qualified are Buriram United, BEC Tero Sasana and the surprise team of the tournament, Nakhon Ratchasima from Yamaha League 1 (Thai Second Division), and who already showed their potential by knocking-out 3 teams from Thai Premier League, Singhtarua FC, Chiangrai United and Chainat FC.
